No. Growing Minds Psychiatry operates on a fee-for-service basis. Dr. Redd is not contracted with any insurance plans and is considered "out-of-network".
Some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits which allow patients to submit receipts for reimbursement. Upon request, you will be given a “superbill” (itemized receipt) to submit directly to your insurance company. Please contact your insurance company for coverage terms in advance.
At Growing Minds Psychiatry, Dr. Redd understands that seeking help for your child or yourself is an important and deeply personal decision. Every patient deserves thoughtful, compassionate care — not rushed appointments or treatment plans shaped by insurance limitations.
Dr. Redd has chosen not to participate directly with insurance companies so that she can focus fully on each patient's needs. Insurance often places restrictions on appointment length, treatment options, and even how frequently a patient can be seen. By remaining independent, Dr. Redd can spend the time needed to truly listen, understand one's story, and create a plan that’s tailored just for each patient — not one dictated by insurance guidelines.
Growing Minds Psychiatry also values your family’s privacy. When working outside of insurance networks, your mental health records remain fully confidential and are not shared with insurance databases.
Dr. Redd's goal is to ensure that every visit feels supportive, unrushed, and focused on helping each patient grow and thrive — free from the constraints of insurance-based care.
Growing Minds Psychiatry sees patients with a wide range of mental health conditions, including ADHD, pediatric behavioral problems, oppositional defiance disorder, anxiety, panic attacks, school avoidance, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, tic disorder, insomnia, PTSD, and more.
Before the Visit:
Prior to your child’s appointment, you will receive comprehensive intake forms to complete. You are encouraged to include any relevant psychological reports, school records, medical records, or lab results for Dr. Redd to review. Depending on your child’s specific concerns, you may also be asked to complete additional questionnaires or rating scales. In some cases, input from teachers, therapists, or other professionals may be requested through similar forms to provide a well-rounded understanding of your child’s needs. Please submit all completed forms and records 48 hours prior to your visit. This allows Dr. Redd sufficient time to review all materials and prepare a thoughtful, individualized assessment plan.
Preparing Your Child:
You can let your child know that this visit is simply a chance for them — and you — to talk about what’s been going well and what’s been more difficult. We’ll work together to understand how they’re feeling and find ways to support them in reaching their full potential.
During the Evaluation - virtual visit with parents/caregivers:
The first visit will be a virtual session with parents/caregivers only, thereby allowing you to speak candidly without your child present. We will have a detailed conversation about your child’s history, current concerns, and any relevant background information.
During the Evaluation - in- office visit with parents/caregivers and child:
The second part of the initial evaluation will be an in-office session with both parents/caregivers and the child. The session is a calm, welcoming conversation designed to get to know your child. Depending on the child’s age and comfort level, Dr. Redd may meet separately with your child to talk and engage in simple activities that help them express themselves. At the end of the evaluation, Dr. Redd carefully reviews all findings and provides a clear summary with personalized recommendations. This may include therapy, school supports, further assessment, or — when appropriate — discussion of medication options. The goal is to ensure you leave the appointment feeling heard, understood, and supported.
After the Evaluation:
If ongoing psychiatric care or medication management is recommended, follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor progress, adjust treatment as needed, and provide ongoing support. The frequency of visits depends on your child’s needs and treatment goals. With your consent, Dr. Redd can also coordinate with your child’s therapists, pediatrician, or school team to ensure consistent, collaborative care. Dr. Redd views treatment as a partnership. Every step is taken with compassion, understanding, and the shared goal of helping your child grow, heal, and thrive.

During the Evaluation:
The session is a calm, welcoming conversation designed to get to know you.
We will discuss your history, current concerns, and relevant background information in detail. Family members or other individuals involved in your care are encouraged to attend the initial appointment to offer emotional support and provide additional context. At the end of the evaluation, Dr. Redd will review all findings carefully and offer a clear summary along with personalized recommendations. This may include therapy, college or employment supports, further assessment, or — when appropriate — discussion of medication options. The goal is to ensure you leave the appointment feeling heard, understood, and supported.

If ongoing psychiatric care or medication management is recommended, follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor progress, adjust treatment as needed, and provide ongoing support. The frequency of visits depends on your needs and treatment goals. With your consent, Dr. Redd can also coordinate with your therapist, primary care physician, or family members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care. Dr. Redd believes in a collaborative approach to treatment, emphasizing compassionate and understanding support with the shared goal of helping you achieve healing and well-being.
The frequency of follow-up visits is determined by each patient's individual needs and treatment objectives. During periods of acute crisis, follow-up may be scheduled within 1-2 weeks. When starting a new medication, follow-up is typically recommended within 2-4 weeks to assess symptom progression and monitor for potential side effects. Once symptoms have stabilized, appointment intervals may be extended to every 3-4 months, depending on the specific treatment plan.
Telepsychiatry appointments are governed by the regulations established by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the state of Texas. Additionally, insurance coverage for reimbursement may differ between in-person and telepsychiatry visits. Subject to any changes to the regulatory requirements, per Dr. Redd's practice policy:
No. Dr. Redd is only licensed to practice medicine in Texas. This means that for all virtual appointments, the patient needs to be physically located in Texas during the time of service.
Dr. Redd obtained her medical degree (M.D.) from UT Southwestern Medical School. Afterwards, she spent 3 years training in General Psychiatry residency at the University of Arizona, and 2 additional years specializing in children and adolescents during her fellowship at UT Southwestern/Children's Health, totaling at least 15,000 hours of patient care during training. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology both in General Psychiatry (2015) and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2016).
